Yes, the two shop you see on the Home and Shop pages of the Blue Fish Apartment weren’t just for show this whole time! Shops were actually happening! Took a little longer than usual since I had to design the merch while also working on the BFA and other artwork too. But it’s finally here. If you wanted to have my artwork on something like a mug, as a sticker, or even on a clock, you can finally make it happen and own it!

Right now on the shop is the Pocky Collection. All six Pocky-tan have products based on each one that can be purchased. Starting around January, I’ll be adding more products to the catalog based on more artwork as well as the Silly Sketches.

So hit up the shop now and get something nice for ya! It’s Christmas season while I’m writing this, so now’s a good time to not only support my artwork, but to also make someone else happy!

So Why RedBubble?

Throughout 2020, I was shopping around for Print-On-Demand sites that would handle doing prints. This alone spiraled into something else I’ll get to when the Print Shop opens next year. But one thing I kept worrying about with this new venture is the content of some of the artwork I do, and keeping potentially unsold inventory in my home. With the content, RedBubble is the more friendlier of the bunch in terms of more risque content as well as selling one’s own fanart. Given, there’s still some fanart I won’t put on products for some rather obvious reasons. They’re also friendlier with more risque content and have the ability to put a filter on it.

Some time during my shop hunting, I was pointed to another site (that I won’t mention) that was a-okay with more adult content. The issue was that it was all curated, meaning there’s a chance of a design being rejected and not given the time of day. While I understand why some sites curate their products, I’m more of the mindset that the public should decide that after the fact. If it doesn’t sell, that it comes down, and if it does, it stays up. If I’m wasting time designing a product that fails, at least I can say that it was given a chance.

What About Prints?

That's one thing I won't be selling on RedBubble, or any P.O.D. Site. I won't explain why just yet. But just know that all you'll be finding on my RedBubble shop is merchandise. I still have to iron out some of the logistics I'll be facing, but prints will be coming at some point next year.

So what kind of artwork are you slapping on products?

As mentioned earlier, right now I have the Pocky-tan Collection up. They’re on things like mugs, shirts, clocks, phone cases, and stickers. Down the line I’ll be looking at my past artwork to see which ones would look good on some products. I’ll also be adding my Silly Sketches chibis on some products as well.

With that said, I hope you like the artwork on your new mug, the sticker on your laptop, or the coaster under your cup, some (or all) with my artwork on it. It’s only me and another person making this happen. So buying from Merch Shop Possion will be supporting a very indie artist and his helper.

Here’s the link the shop again.

Whatever you buy, I hope you enjoy it!

The holidays are heating up at my part-time, so this obviously got delayed. But Everything is now at a brisk pace with this pic. All of the enemies got shaded in... save for one. I removed one of the bats as this pic was getting too busy. I did think about how dense this was getting by the 2nd sketch phase, but figured it's turn out alright when things got shaded in. But once I applied the effects of the wraiths, wisps, and Skull Lord, that's when I realized that I'd have to remove something. So I settled on the bat to the bottom of the Skull Lord, which leaves one bat above the attacking wraith.

The next step now is to shade in the environment. Hoping to get this done by Monday.

What a mess of red lines this has become. But it'll all make sense in due time. After days of dreading shading in the sword sheath (of all things), I finished shading in Sonia Belmont. So now the next step is to do her background.

iu_72607_7377383.jpg

Before we get there, let's talk leotard. One again I had to do her abs, this time peeking through her leotard. The new wrinkle added to the mix was... well, the wrinkles. I figured the best approach would be to do everything like normal, then erase away where the wrinkles are.

For the smaller wrinkles, I'd treat them similar to how I treat veins when they appear on skin. Erase away, then add shadows as needed. Once the leotard was done, It was a straight path through the coat (save for the sheath). Once completed, it was off to the BG.

iu_72608_7377383.jpg

However what kind of background do I draw? Each time it always came back to the 1st stage in the game. I did have issues remembering exact details from that stage as I was shading in Sonia. So I looked up gameplay footage again, and that's when the ideas started coming in.

iu_72609_7377383.jpg

There's one section of the first stage with a gate that you pass through. That's the spot that I deiced to base this background on. It's hard to see i the mess of reds, I added in the ghost, wisp, and bat enemies from the stage.

iu_72610_7377383.jpg

Even though it doesn't appear in this stage (or even this game), I added in a glowing skull. I'm not too well versed in drawing skulls sadly, so I had to find an image to trace for at least its outline. Of course painting it in and adding the effects will be done on my own.

Just because I went to AnimeNYC doesn't mean I get to take a break. Gotta get back to work, and work on this lady is what I did! Here's the aforementioned abs that I had to rework. This was quite the task to fulfill as It's very rare I draw fit ladies.

iu_70160_7377383.jpg

Here's a comparison between the new abs and the old. Note: The lineart doesn't lineup with the old since I hadn't saved a screenshot beforehand. But yes, the Lineart also had to be redone as well since it too wasn't really gelling with what I had to do.

Before I continue, just wanna give a huge shoutout to @JennaLynnMeowri for this pic. I wasn't kidding when I said this was exactly the reference I needed when she posted it. The model on Posemaniacs could only help so much, and homegirl saved the day!

Now then, onto the gauntlets. These were actually much easier to draw than I initially thought. Laying everything out, this was pretty much like re-drawing the construction line for hands, or a wood hand model for that matter. Leave the joints exposed, fill rest with metal.

If you're coming from my Patreon, again I apologize as I can't really post this preview on there without Paywalling, which I don't do for public previews. It's due to this skirting their NSFW policy on public posts, and I don't want to run afoul of that.

Took a bit, but I finally got Tong Pooh shaded in. I had to redo part of her pants since the first go didn't have a consistent flow. I decided to add some light embroidery to the sash at the last minute to match her shoes.

The background now has its second sketch done. It was a bit difficult since I'm going based off the Neo Tokyo - High Society Residential District area of Strider 2, the stage you fight her in. It's a PS1 era game, so I kinda needed to wing it with some elements, particularly with the cars and parts of the buildings.

Like what you see? Consider supporting my artwork over on Patreon! You can see full previews of upcoming artwork, and also get rewards like step-by-steps, body-chan poses (where applicable), and materials. It's not necessary to see both clean and NSFW versions when a pic is completed. But any little bit helps to keep the dream alive!

Ahoy Fellow Fishes! Welcome to the first ever WIP Artwork Time on Newgrounds! I usually post these to my Twitter and Patreon. I also used to post these to Tumblr, but you already know what happened. So Newgrounds will be hosting these WIP posts too. To the uninitiated, these public previews are zoomed in, and only posted once I cross a major milestone (like 1st sketch or base color done for example).

Wu-Ruixiang is gonna take a while, and Sonia Belmont needs more work. So I'm flipping back to a pic I've had in waiting for over a year now. I already showed previews of this once before, so think of this as a refresher for what's to come. I had a whole ordeal last year of trying to get both the pose and angle correct. I'll talk about it more when the pic completed.

The background had its 1st sketch phase done already, almost by necessity since there's a whole lot already happening in this pic.

I'm still rather new to putting up artwork on Newgrounds. I'm in the process of putting up some of my old artwork. Along the way, I noticed that you can put more images into the description of the uploaded artwork, like alternate variants. In the case of my artwork, it's usually Nude variants. Depending on the gallery, I've always had to handle these uploads differently. On my Main Gallery, I put both the clean and NSFW variants in the same post. But On DeviantArt, Pixiv, and Tumblr, I've always had to do them on different posts, at least so that at least the clean one can remain visible to the general public.

However this place is different. I think lots of people prefer to have their NSFW Filters off. But I still wanna be sure that I do this right before I start uploading the more recent stuff to the Art Portal (the older stuff is still remaining off)

So here's the question?

Do you prefer Clean and NSFW variants uploaded to a single post?

Or do you prefer Clean and NSFW Variants uploaded to multiple posts?

Ahoy! finally I post something on here!

Before I begin, I should briefly introduce myself.

My art name is DeadPhoenX. I've gone by that handle online since 2006 when I played Mario Kart DS. The main focus of my artwork is on retro videogame and anime babes, preferably from lesser known properties. I do occasionally draw modern ladies, but only if I have the time to. I do have some OCs as well, one of them being my postergirl, Chelsí Plainair.

So as you may remember some time ago, Tumblr purged practically all NSFW content on the site leading to a mass exodus of many adult content creators from Tumblr onto other sites, Newgrounds included. I was one of part of that group, though it took me a while to do anything with this account. But finally I'll be posting artwork up here. However I want to handle this a little differently. Usually when I make an account on a new art site, I tend to put up practically all of of what I've done so far. It's a lot of artwork I'd be putting up here, some of which don't really hold up well by my current standards.

So instead for the next several days, I'll be putting up select artwork that I've done all the way up to my most recent pic.

Here's the plan: Everything from 2015 and back is off and will not go up. 2 of my pics from 2016 will go up. Most of my artwork from 2017 will go up. All artwork from 2018 (except one of them) will go up. And finally, all artwork from this year will go up on Newgrounds.

New artwork posted to my Main Gallery will eventually make its way to Newgrounds within the week (most likely after DeviantArt and Pixiv, which tend to be the day after my main gallery).

In regards to the Art Portal, I'm gonna leave the older artwork out of it as I personally don't think they're not good enough anymore to go up on there and don't reflect what I'm capable of nowadays. Some 2017 artwork will go up (and hopefully scouted). And a good chunk of 2018 and 2019 will go on there.

If you wanna see the artwork I've done so far, you can check them out over on my main Gallery, The Blue Fish Apartment.

You can also follow me on Twitter if you want as well.

Here's to a bright future on NewGrounds!
